Traditional doughballs with honey and cinnamon

Doghnuts the greek way, drizzled with honey and cinnamon while still warm. Pure sweet delight!

DIRECTIONS

  1. In a bowl, put flour, sugar and salt and mix well.
  2. Dissolve the yeast into the lukewarm water and add it to the bowl. Mix until it turns into a porridge.
  3. Cover the porridge with a towel and let it rest in a warm place for about 40 minutes.
  4. In a pot, put Horio PDO Kalamata olive oil and let it get warm.
  5. When heated, take some of the porridge with a spoon and pour it over Horio PDO Kalamata olive oil. Each time you repeat the procedure, dip the spoon in water.
  6. When doughnuts turn golden, remove them with a skimmer and leave them on a platter laid with a paper towel.
  7. Before the doughnuts cool off, drizzle them with honey and sprinkle them with cinnamon.
