Tips for perfectly baked vegetables

Roasted vegetables can add to every one of our meals – they can be served as aperitif, they can accompany meat, fish, they can add to our taste and health.

One could argue that no special knowledge is required in cooking vegetables, but we all know that cooking holds secrets and special techniques. So, here we are, noting all tips for perfectly roasted vegetables for you to use and cherish!

1. Slice them evenly

If you want your vegetables nicely cooked and browned, slice them evenly. Some vegetables, like carrots, can be cooked as they are, giving a beautiful result and color to your serving plate.

2. Olive oil, spices and herbs

After slicing your vegetables, oil them before putting them in the oven. Careful not to overdo it, because you wouldn’t want to end up with a watery and mushy result. Sprinkle with salt, pepper, oregano, and as many other spices and herbs as you prefer.

3. Shallow and wide baking pan

Given that vegetables are quite watery themselves, it would not be wise to use a tall baking pan, since the heat will cause them to evaporate and trap moisture in the pan (if pan’s edges are tall).
In a spacey pan, you can spread vegetables so that they will come out nicely browned and crunchy.

4. Bake at 200-230 C for 35-45 minutes

The ideal temperature and time for perfectly roasted vegetables! (if you prefer them softer, you may cook them at lower degrees).
While cooking, don’t hesitate to open the oven and turn them around, so that they will turn gold from both sides.
